Oh Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?

We've been back in India for a month now and the kids are well adjusted to being here. They are eating well and playing like little bandicoots. But, alas, Ezra has stopped sleeping through the night. I believe this is due to a growth spurt, to a fourth tooth he just sprouted and to the fact that his little body rarely, if ever, stops wiggling, crawling, speed crawling, standing, pulling, jumping and wiggling again. He's a little ball of energy all day long. If you've experienced this and have any sage words for us to get our little man to go back to sleeping through the night, please let me know in the comments below.

In the meanwhile, enjoy this aptly named aria from Handel's opera Semele sung by the immortal Kathleen Battle.

  1. Wait up. Once they start sleeping through the night there's a chance they might switch back???

    1. lol yes! Orion has been an amazing sleeper, sleeping all throughout the night but in the last week or so he gets up 3, 4, 5 times a night. He'll be 13 months tomorrow.

      *goes to have a nap*

  2. Sending sympathy from the states from the parent of a former all night sleeper who has suddenly decided that she may be missing out on the 1:00 a.m. happenings in the H family household. As a novice parent, I've dealt with it by letting her sleep in bed with me. I know, now I've created TWO problems rather than ONE. Such a shame we're in different time zones, otherwise, I'd give you a ring to pass the time:)

  3. Ah yes...the stopping of the sleeping through the night.

    Have fun with that.

Been there. Good times. Gave me chances to catch up on the good infomercials.

  4. Luke had this happen when he was 5 months old. He had been sleeping through the night for two months and then all of a sudden had 6 weeks of waking up again. All I can say is that it passes. Just do your best to keep his daily schedule the same. Good luck!
