G-diapers and packing

Ready to head back to India today. Here's a picture of
Chad and our supply of gdiapers before they were packed away (the diapers were packed away, not Chad). The tiny gdiaper size looks like it will be perfect for small babies. Can't wait to see them in action!

Peace,
Douglas

  1. You are BRAVE men planning to use reusable diapers! We considered it for about 4 seconds. Now that we're 10 months and over 5,000 diapers into our new family, I think we made the right choice.

On behalf of the world environment, THANK YOU....as a reaction from a new dad of multiples, you are out of your mind!!!
    GOOD luck!!!

  2. Edward,
Not just mother nature, but our whole environment and situation in Delhi lead us to the decision to give it a try at the very least. First, regular diapers are quite expensive. Second, we are skeptical that our trash is disposed of in a sanitary and environmentally friendly way (um., we think our trash dude takes it to the back alley and dumps it). Third, as is typical with many expats in India, we won't be doing the laundry :-) Fourth, I am dealing with some unpleasant skin issues. Knowing what I've been through, I'd like to keep as many chemicals away from my children's bums as possible. And finally, I have to good friends who have done cloth diapering on their children as of late, and they LOVE it - and, who knew diapering could be loved!?!? I also imagine that we probably will use a combination of disposable diapers and reusables. It doesn't have to be either or.

    Thanks for the comment,
    Douglas

  3. That makes sense. We do dearly miss our laundry being done daily!!!! I recall all too well when it was 'burn your trash day' during our time in India (pretty much every day now that I think of it)....hope you can stick with it!
Although one small bit of practical advice. Newborn multiples are likely to be REALLY small and have a good chance of being premature. Ours were right around 4 pounds when they left the hospital....and they were born at 33 weeks. We brought about 700 premmie diapers with us which didn't take a lot of space and really was handy during the first 4 or 5 weeks until they were really newborn size. We used Pampers Swaddlers which we did eventually find locally as well...but at twice the price of home.
    Best!

  4. I was wondering about what people do for preemie diapers. That was one thing we forgot to check before we left Delhi. The tiny gdiapers are supposed to be sized for babies from 5-9 lbs. They really are SOO tiny. I am really hoping that we don't need anything smaller than the 5 lb size. We'll need to be prepared either way, though.

Yes... there are definitely a few creature comforts that make up for some of the inconveniences of Delhi.

Heading to the airport in 45 minutes!
